the series ‘golden scars’ is inspired by kintsukuroi – a japanese art of repairing pottery with gold or silver lacquer and understanding that the piece is more beautiful after having been broken.
the modern world sees broken things as unworthy of our time, unwanted interference in our lives. the art of repairing and making things beautiful in the process allows us to reflect on the beauty of flaws and scars. zelko’s project focuses on the urge to express his profound esteem for the rejected, forgotten objects and the need to give them the status of exclusivity and nobility.
